Senior Tour 2009-2010

This year the senior classes spent Wednesday June 3rd in Killary Adventure Centre, Leenane, Co. Galway. We have lots of fantastic memories from the day.

We left the school at 8.15 a.m. When we arrived at the centre we had something small to eat and were divided up into groups. We were so lucky with the weather. We needed plenty of suncream! We got to do lots of activities including- archery, cliff jumping, gorge walking, the big swing, kayaking and wall climbing.

Half the groups took part in water activities in the morning. The other half were on dry land. There were many activities on offer. The land based activities included the big swing, archery and the climbing tower.

The water based activities included gorge-walking, kayaking and cliff jumping. We wore wet suits, helmets and old shoes. We enjoyed splashing around and it was great to get a chance to cool down because the day was very hot.

Our lunch break lasted for and hour between 1pm and 2pm. After lunch if we took part in a water based activity in the morning then it was a land based activity for the afternoon and vice versa.

On our way home we stopped in Supermacs in Ballinrobe to fill our hungry tummies. We arrived back in Claran after 8, very tired but really happy. The day was a great sucess.

The next day at school we had fun looking through the photographs and talking about our favourite activites. There was only one problem - it was very hard for anyone to pick their favourite activity!!

Junior Tour - 2010

The junior tour took place on June 1st. We arrivied at the school at 8.30 am, all excited about the day ahead. Classes from Junior Infants to 2nd class went on the tour. We had to get two buses a big bus and a mini bus. We set off at 9 O' clock and the journey took us 1 hour.

Our tour was to Turoe Pet farm, near Loughrea in Co. Galway. When we arrived we had some lunch. Then it was time to visit Inflatable City!

All excited as the bus leaves the school!

Inflatable fun!

Inflatable city was a huge bouncing castle with a big slide. It was so much fun. We got loads of time here to run around with our friends. On top you can see pictures of us getting ready to go on the slide and then coming down. It is one of the biggest inflatable slides in Ireland! It was very popular. Below- Taking a break! All the running around made us tired. It was even hard chilling out and trying not to fall over!

Jungle Town

Next the group was split in two. One group got time to recharge their batteries, they had lunch and some well earned drinks! The other group got to visit Jungle Town. Jungle Town was a play area with slides and climbing frames. It was good. After a while the two groups swapped.

After lunch it was time to visit the animals. The first stop was the aviary where we saw lots of different types of hens, turkeys and even a peacock. We also saw lots of rabbits here. We got to play in a sand pit and on the swings before we left this area.

We toured the farm in two groups. We got to feed the animals. We saw ducks sheep, cows, goats, donkeys, pigs, an alpaca and a lama. We even saw the place where the aligator lives, we had to be careful not to wake him! We think we spotted him asleep under the bridge!!

We were very lucky that the rain stayed away all day. We stopped on our tour of the farm at a wishing well. We had to close our eyes and make a wish! We cannot tell anyone what we wished for! Hopefully this means all our wishes will come true!

We arrived back at schoo at 3pm very tired but very happy! A super day was had by all.
