Concert

2011

Our annual Christmas concert took place on Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of December. We decided to do two preformances again this year as we knew that lots of people wanted to see us on stage!

Dancing

The show opened with pupils from the Hussey School of Dancing performing a selection of dances. Pupils from 1st class up danced on both nights. Pupils from the senior room did the brush dance.

Junior Infants

The Junior Infant class treated the audience to a selection of songs and poems. The Hello song started off their perfromance, it was followed by Miss Polly and My Birthday. The audience then enjoyed 5 Little Monkeys, I'm a little Pine Tree, Little Snowman, Dear Santa, Five little Candles and Santa Claus is coming to town. The infants finished their part of the concert with the Goodbye song.

Senior Infants

Senior Infants entertained the audience with their play called "Elves on Strike".Santa's elves go on strike coming up to Christmas. Santa and Mrs Claus are very worried. They work hard to solve the problem and eventually the elves return to work and continue to make toys for all the girls and boys.

Music

The school band played a selection of tunes with a tv theme this year. The band included pupils from 3rd to 6th classes. They played the theme tunes from "The A-team", "Indiana Jones "and "Dallas".
1st and 2nd Class

The Nativity story was dramatized by 1st and 2nd class. It was called "Shine Star Shine". It was about a big star who could not shine. Her star friends called on their friends for some help and they brought her all the way to Bethlehem to see Baby Jesus. When she saw him, he smiled up at her she started glowing and the Kings and shepherds were able to find their way to the stable.

Senior classes

The final performance of the night was from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes together. They put on a localised version of the musical Bugsy Malone.

Fat Sam's Cloon Saloon was set to be closed down by Dandy Dan and his boys from Jack Kelly's. Bugsy Malone and his down and out men from Knocklahard came along to save the day!

Thanks to Bugsy, Dandy Dan and Fat Sam join forces and become a force to be reckoned with.

Different people from 6th class took on the leading roles each night. We enjoyed practising songs and dances, gathering costume pieces and putting our acting abilities into action on the stage. Great fun was had by all.

We hope you have enjoyed looking at our concert photographs. We certainly had fun preparing for it and performing on the night.
